août 23, 2017Environmental Stewardship: Protecting Marine & Coastal Ecosystems
Environmental Protection (Environnement) is an essential responsibility embedded in all our maritime and port logistics services. Operating along the West African coast and at the Port of Pointe-Noire, we actively work to minimize our ecological footprint and preserve vital marine biodiversity for future generations.
Our environmental strategy centers on four key action pillars:
-
MARPOL Compliance & Marine Pollution Prevention: We strictly adhere to the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) and local environmental regulations. Our teams ensure safe handling and proper disposal of ship-generated waste, bilge water, and hazardous materials to prevent any accidental marine contamination.
-
Sustainable Waste Management & Recycling: In both our port agency activities and warehouse operations, we enforce systematic waste segregation, safe storage, and eco-friendly disposal practices. We partner with certified local waste management entities to ensure that plastics, oils, and chemical packaging are handled in an environmentally responsible manner.
-
Carbon Footprint & Energy Optimization: Through optimized fleet route planning for crew transfers and efficient cargo handling schedules, we actively reduce fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. Minimizing vessel port stay times (demurrage) further contributes to reducing auxiliary engine emissions while ships are at berth.
-
Environmental Awareness & Spill Response Preparedness: We cultivate a strong environmental culture across our workforce through regular training on spill prevention, eco-driving, and resource conservation. Our teams maintain continuous readiness with rapid-response protocols and containment equipment to address potential chemical or oil spills instantly.
